His Grace the Duke of Huitepec, W. W. Hathaway MacCoby, OMS, has devoted a substantial portion of his life to the service of the Imperial Crown and the institutions of the Confederated Empire.

The office of Mesazon (Μεσάζων) is an ancient office of Byzantine Imperial statecraft, signifying an intermediary standing in close confidence to the Sovereign.

His Grace holds this office principally because of the personal confidence and trust placed in him by the Emperor.

The Mesazon serves as a principal intermediary between His Imperial Majesty and foreign representatives when the Emperor entrusts him with that responsibility.
His Grace may speak directly with foreign sovereigns, heads of state, heads of government, ambassadors, envoys, diplomatic missions, indigenous representatives, political movements, and other foreign persons or organizations on behalf of the Emperor.
Where His Imperial Majesty determines that he need not personally speak, the Mesazon may convey the Emperor's greetings, views, instructions, messages, or position.
At diplomatic receptions, ceremonies, audiences, and other functions, His Imperial Majesty may likewise entrust His Grace to speak on behalf of the Crown.
In such circumstances, His Grace does not speak merely as an officer of the Imperial Government.
He speaks as the appointed voice of the Sovereign.
The authority remains with the Emperor; the Mesazon carries that authority by virtue of the trust and commission bestowed upon him.
